【はじめに】
IYGU(国際地球理解年)によるストーリーマップコンペティションは、世界中の若い人々に、地元のローカルな日常生活がグローバルなつながりの中にあることを意識してもらうことを目的にした活動います。
私たちの世界は、社会、文化、経済の変動に直面しているのであり、気候変動も起こっています。人間の行動はそうした変動を作り出しますが、同時にまた、人間は解決することもできるのです。もし地球上のみんなが、日々の暮らしが地球という惑星に与える意味を知ったならば、きっとより適切な行動をとれるはずです。
地球理解(グローバル・アンダースタンディング)は知識と行動のあいだにあるギャップを乗り越え、様々な政策決定に関わることで、持続可能な世界を推し進めるものです。
【コンペについて】
私たちは、高校生や大学生を対象としてコンペを開催します。私たちが暮らす世界は、グローバル化がますます進んでいます。このグローバル化した世界で暮らすにはどうしたらいいのでしょうか？この「グローバル世界の理解」について皆さんが考えたり、取り組んだり、調査したりした活動の結果を、ストーリーマップを使って世界中に共有しましょう。今年は、以下のテーマに一つ以上該当するストーリーマップを募集しています。
１．食事／生存
２．移動／滞在／所属
３．労働／居住／都市化
４．コミュニケーション／つながり／相互作用
５．ごみ／リサイクル／保全
６．スポーツ／エンターテイメント／レクリエーション
【参加方法】
１．登録します（氏名・メールアドレス）
２．ArcGISオンラインアカウントを作成する（すでにある場合はそれを利用）
３．ストーリーマップを作成する
【賞】
1等 1500ユーロ
2等 500ユーロ
3等 250ユーロ

ストーリーマップ：ESRI社によるオンラインで地図を作り、公開できる仕組み。マップを使いながらお話（ストーリー）を進めることができるようなもの。
IYGUがＥＳＲＩのストーリーマップを使ったコンペを開催(12月31日締め切り)。カテゴリは、グローバルアンダースタンディングのキーメッセージに関する研究報告（大学生向け）と発表（高校生向け）。6つのテーマがある。
Story Maps
Share your story: story mapping the International Year of Global Understanding
Under the auspices of the IGU’s International Year of Global Understanding, the European Association of Geographers (EUROGEO) and the the IGU Commission for Geography Education (IGU-CGE) will organise a Story Map competition with the support of ESRI Inc.
The competition will be officially launched at the EUROGEO Conference in Malaga, at end of September 2016 and the deadline for submission of entries will be in December 2016.
There will be two age group categories, one for high school students aged 15-19 to share their perspectives on local meeting global and the other for university students who will be invited to share their research.
The Story Maps should relate to the “Key Messages” of the International Year (http://www.global-understanding.info/what-is-iygu/iygu-key-messages/) and be developed under one (or more) of the six themes of the Year, namely:
1. Eating/drinking//surviving
2. Moving/staying//belonging
3. Working/housing//urbanizing
4. Communicating/networking//interacting
5. Wasting/recycling//preserving
6. Sports/entertaining//recreating
